Change

Change is hard whether it is a positive change or a negative change.  When I became a foster parent and eventually a single adoptive parent there was a big change.  I went from single graduate student to single parent graduate student.  Adding parent changes your world.  It became the priority.  I was no longer the one I worried about the most, now I had Bean to worry about.  We have been in a continual state of change since the move happened in February of 2011.

I plan on using this blog to reflect on the struggles and successes of adoption through foster care, being a single adoptive parent, and life in general.  Bean has a nut allergy and I have a gluten allergy so there will be food mixed in there too.  I'm also a deal hunter- especially for toys and food!

Change has defined my life for the past 4 years, because let's face it, Bean was my daughter way before foster care and adoption surfaced.  I am lucky enough to know her history, know her life story, and have had a large part in her life from age 2.  Change still scares me and makes me nervous because what comes out of change is not always what you think.  Thank you for joining in this journey of reflection and forward movement.
